Black Soul Power would
like to take us back in time, when we were beginning to discover our
blackness, and how beautiful it was. Back in those days, we knew
we had no real rights and fought like hell to get them.
Well, we settled for
less than we were owed and deserved. We allowed ourselves to be
hoodwinked, bamboozled and led astray. We forgot the beauty in
being black and the power we share as a collective to get the job done.
We essentially dumbed down and lulled to sleep with the oppressors
hoping that we would forget our 40 acres and a mule. We forgot about the
black struggle and our quest to have the same liberties as our
oppressors and those who had no stake in amerikka. We forgot the
civil rights movement was not over and did not show the world the power
of our blackness.. We settled for less, held no one accountable because
we thought as they taught, we are inferior.
As long as those 41
bullets remain out there, we cannot afford to forget that we are no
better off than we were when the infamous Dred Scott decision was
announced.
It's time to relight the
flames of black consciousness and we here at Black Soul Power Radio and
Productions will always have that mission at the forefront of all that
we do.

Afrikan Pride
Afrikan mothers with newborn afrikans
stroll through the compound
for the elders to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
Afrikan fathers, palefaced guests
come home to dine
for the family to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
Afrikan bodies side by side
shackled limb from limb
for the captain to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
Afrikan hairs from an old man
plucked to look like young
for the buyer to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
Afrikan shoulders bent in labor
sweat from noon-day sun
for the massa to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
Afrikan blood spilled from
woundsmeant for the soul, crack of the whip
for the enslaved's brethren to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
Afrikan eyes turned to the heavens
tears of joy spill from many faces
for God and the Ancestors to see
Pride swells inside
the heart
the mind
the soul
cries AFRIKA!
